October 8, 2023  /  8:00 AM

The 64th International Engineering Fair (MSV Brno) will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 10 to 13 October 2023. Tens of thousands of visitors will learn about industrial technologies and innovations presented by exhibitors from all over the world. Specialised fairs TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS and ENVITECH will also be held concurrently with MSV.

"The International Engineering Fair is an important event that provides an opportunity to share innovations and visions for the future of the industry. I am glad that this year the fair has taken another step towards the pre-covid editions, especially in terms of the international nature of the event. Trade missions are heading to Brno, including important business delegations from the United States of America, Ukraine, the Netherlands, India, Colombia, and other countries of the world," said Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno.

"I am pleased that the International Engineering Fair is constantly keeping up with the times and responding to what the industry needs. It gives companies the opportunity to show themselves to domestic and foreign partners, they can gather inspiration in the field of digitalisation and the latest technologies, and it shows students what career they can pursue in industrial companies. On behalf of the Confederation of Industry, we will open MSV with our Assembly. We will the government about specific problems of companies and present proposals for their solutions," said Dagmar Kuchtová, CEO of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic.

Innovations across industries

The MSV International Engineering Fair will be attended by leading companies across industries. There will be 1,300 exhibiting companies from 43 countries. Traditionally, the most strongly represented sector will be machining and forming, including tools. Companies dealing in automation, electronics, industrial robots, measuring technology, plastics, welding, surface treatment, hydraulics or materials and components are also preparing their booths. "Thanks to its broad focus, this expo offers the opportunity to bring together experts in various fields. This creates a unique platform for sharing experiences, promoting innovation, and discussing the future development of the industry," said Michalis Busios, MSV Director.

High international participation

One of the main characteristics of MSV is its international scope and the broad participation of foreign exhibitors and visitors who come to the fair to establish new business relationships. The meeting of industry leaders from different countries allows new innovative approaches to be developed, which ultimately strengthens the competitiveness of the entire industrial sector. This year, China, France, India, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Taiwan, and Uzbekistan will open their official displays at the International Engineering Fair, sponsored by the government or an export promotion institution. The fair will also include the Czech National Exposition, which will bring together the services provided by the state to entrepreneurs in one place. This year, the expo also reflects the situation in Ukraine, and in Hall A, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, a Contact Ukraine platform will be set up, enabling Czech companies to offer technologies and participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine. A conference named Business Day of Ukraine will also be held.

Digitalisation as a path to efficiency

Digitalisation is becoming an integral part of industrial processes and opens the door to a new era of efficiency and competitiveness. The International Engineering Fair has long been focusing on this topic, presenting the latest approaches and solutions that digitalisation offers. In Hall F, visitors will find the Digital Factory 2.0 exhibition, which will focus, for example, on 5G networks, energy management, industrial sustainability, or the effective application of artificial intelligence. The main partner of the project this year is the National Centre for Industry 4.0, which in cooperation with the CIIRC research institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague – RICAIP Testbed for Industry 4.0, Siemens, T-Mobile, Česká spořitelna, DEL, SICK and the European innovation community EIT Manufacturing will present the path to a successful company of the 21st century. There will also be a Digital Stage ready for the presentation of case studies and innovative technologies. "This year, for the first time, there will also be a second stage for follow-up discussions on current topics," added Michal Svoboda, Head of Marketing and Communications.

Guided tours, 3D printing and nuclear energy

During the expo, people can take advantage of guided tours called MSV TOUR full of practical demonstrations. Experts will be waiting for participants at selected stands to present innovations in the field, and interesting solutions. MSV will also feature the Contact-Contract event offering the possibility to arrange a business meeting in advance with a precise schedule. A major event will be the Assembly of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, which will take place on the first day of the expo. MSV will also stage a Gold Medal competition for the best exhibits. An interesting programme will take place at the Czech National Exposition. For example, there will be a seminar focused on expansion and investment in the USA, followed by meetings of Czech companies with representatives of eleven US states. The economic aspects of 3D printing in terms of challenges and benefits will be the focus of Additive Manufacturing Forum. Another novelty will be the Cyber Security in Industry seminar, which will focus on securing industrial enterprises against external cyber threats. Energy is an important topic within the extra programme. The existing mutual cooperation between Czech and French companies in the nuclear energy sector will be presented by the French-Czech Forum on Nuclear Energy. The IndusTRY event, aimed at introducing modern industry to young people and introducing them to career opportunities in this field, will appeal to school students.

Logistics and sustainability

One of the essential elements of modern industry is the field of logistics, which is the focus of the TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS international trade fair. Visitors will learn about the latest technologies that improve the efficiency, reliability and automation of handling and shipping processes. It will also include the Packaging Live project – this year for the first time with two packaging lines. Another concurrently held fair, ENVITECH, focuses on sustainability. Companies will present innovative approaches and products related to this issue. The focus on sustainability covers a wide range of aspects, including energy efficiency, emission reduction or the use of sustainable materials.

WOODTEC will occupy Hall Z

WOODTEC, the International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry, is taking place alongside MSV and is returning to the Brno Exhibition Centre after six years. The fair has a thirty-year tradition and is a major woodworking and furniture making event in the Czech Republic. In the completely full Hall Z, visitors will find not only machines for wood processing and furniture production, but also tools, fittings, and technologies for processing wood waste. The main partner of WOODTEC is the Association of Manufacturers and Importers of Woodworking Machinery and Equipment.
