The ProDítě 2020 fair showcased new products for the better comfort of children and parents

The sixteenth year of the fair took place in the larger Hall V and included accompanying entertainment and educational programmes. The largest contracting and sale fair of children’s products in the Czech and Slovak Republics focused on the products of the best suppliers and of hundreds of Czech and European brands in one place. The sixteenth year of the fair took place in the larger Hall V and included accompanying entertainment and educational programmes. The interest of the public was negatively influenced by worries connected to the coronavirus epidemic. Despite this, according to a preliminary estimate, approximately ten thousand visitors will have come to the Brno Exhibition Centre over the four days.

The fair included 104 exhibitors from six countries – the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Slovakia. 15 foreign companies arrived and the full exhibition grounds for the fair reached approximately 5 500 m2. Distributors of products for children and babies and representatives of foreign brands made up the majority of the exhibitors, bud we did see Czech producers too. The goods ranged from children’s furniture through prams and car seats to textiles, health food, cosmetics and toys. Almost every exhibitor brought some new product, a novel collection for this year, with premieres of Hungarian children’s furniture Toddy, British baby nutrition Kendamil, Bulgarian children’s clothing Merino Kinder and the purely Czech fashion brand Maller among others.

The number of visitors at the 16th year of the ProDítě fair was negatively influenced by public worries concerning Covid-19. Even though a number of company buyers and owners didn’t come, and worries materialised concerning especially expecting parents, the number of visitors reached 10 thousand. This was about 25 percent less than was expected. “I am glad that even though the situation was worrying, our business partners from the B2B segment arrived,” said general director of the BVV Trade Fairs Brno company, Jiří Kuliš.

The ProDítě 2020 fair moved into the modern and spacious Hall V. Alongside exhibits, there was also enough space for a relaxation zone, lecture space, a children’s corner and a venue for breast-feeding mothers. From Friday to Sunday an accompanying programme for both children and adults took place on the stage. Experts lectured on topics such as children’s product safety, complaint procedures, the founding of children’s groups, preparation for birth and dental hygiene. The amusement programme was most interesting for the smallest visitors, including for example a unique baby race. From Friday to Sunday, the Great Visitors’ Competition place, where the winners were drawn and received a BeSafe car seat and other valuable prizes.

The next year of the ProDítě fair will take place between 4 and 7 March 2021.

What they said about the fair

Zdeněk Krška, owner, Kočárky Růžový panter:
At our stall there is always a large number of people, so I am satisfied. I was worried about the panic caused by the coronavirus, but the visitors came in the end and we made sales, our fears having not fully materialised. Even though last year was of course a bit better, it was a different situation back then. The fair could have even been cancelled, which would have been the worst option, so all in all, it was successful.

Eva Szipková, owner of the company Baby Concept:
I am very happy with the organisation; the exhibition ground fulfilled all our requirements and the Svaz výrobců a dovozců dětských potřeb (Association of Producers and Suppliers of Children’s Products) took good care of us. This year, we expected fewer visitors, but it was not that bad in the end. Our stall was visited by a lot of people. The visitors were most interested in the stretchers and deck chairs produced by the BABYBÖRN company.

Lenka Nejedlá, marketing specialist, Happy Baby:
We’re here for the first time and I must say, our stall was always full of people and we didn’t get a chance to pause. Both pregnant ladies and mothers with children came, we got to hold the children, everything was pleasant, and no one was scared. We had queues at our stall, with couples coming even from Prague and many visitors from the Vysočina region. Our target was to gather new registrations, which was successful, just Friday saw 660 and Saturday will bring many more. Also, the atmosphere here is pleasant and the mothers are very nice.

Ondřej Pilecký, marketing, Babypoint:
We are happy that this year’s ProDítě fair took place in the end, because we couldn’t be sure until the last moment. The number of visitors was of course smaller than expected, but we are glad that they came. Some of the exhibitors arrived, others didn’t because of fears concerning the coronavirus, and it was the same with the visitors. We did get some orders, but we will evaluate the results after the end of the fair.

Michal Valent, secretary, Health Academy, Kendamil company:
We are presenting at the Brno fair for the first time, we are also here thanks to the Slovaks, though not many of them came due to the current situation. But we did sell some products and on Friday and Saturday quite a lot of people actually visited. I heard that in other years there were far more visitors, but I cannot compare it myself.

Martina Tregler, co-owner, brands BeeMy and Maller:
Saturday was quite good regarding the number of visitors. It cannot of course be compared with last year, but it was also not that bad and we are relatively satisfied given the current situation. For the first time we coherently presented our new brand, Maller, and it was a successful premiere. The visitors liked the clothing and we received good feedback.

Jiří Wimmer, owner, My Hummy CZ:
We have presented here in the past three years and this year we did see a decrease in the number of visitors due to the fear of illness. Of course, we understand that this situation isn’t anybody’s fault. Otherwise, we are very satisfied with the Brno fair when it comes to its organisation side, the organisers were very helpful.

Lubomír Fiedler, owner of the company Ing. Lubomír Fiedler, brands Inglesina, Kiddy, Faktum and others:
Here, we presented a new brand – the Hungarian children’s furniture, Toddy – and so far, it has been a very successful premiere. The responses of the businesspeople were very positive, and some products have already been sold to end users. Thanks to the fair, we have feedback for our new brands and now we know which line is most attractive. This is very important for us, since we cannot really show our furniture in shops as one could for example with a pram; we can only show a bedroom at a fair.
