Fair of smart solutions for cities and municipalities

URBIS Smart City Fair and Future Mobility have been launched

The opening ceremony of the trade fairs focused on smart solutions for cities and municipalities took place in Hall A, coincidentally in the same premises where the Czechoslovakian Exhibition of Contemporary Culture of was held in 1928. Just like many years ago, this year the hall is showcasing innovations and trends of today and, more recently, of the future. Guests at the opening were Václav Bernard, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic, Petr Kratochvíl, Councillor for Transport of the City of Brno, and Tomáš Moravec, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno. They were welcomed in the opening speech by host Jaroslav Kacer and thanked the main partners of the expo and accompanying events – the City of Brno and the companies Teplárny Brno and Brněnské komunikace. The patronage of URBIS Innovation, held as part of URBIS SMART CITY FAIR, was taken over by the Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic Martin Kupka.

Autonomous driving will affect the entire transport and logistics systém

"The Ministry of Transport actively supports innovations in transport and the development of new concepts that can bring solutions to a number of today's pressing problems in the transport sector related to urbanisation and the natural evolution of society. As a result, transport is no longer seen as a means of getting from one point to another, but increasingly in the broader perspective of the services associated with it. At the same time, its further development will be influenced by the trend towards autonomous driving, which in many ways is already a technological innovation ready to become part of everyday life.  Soon, the transport sector can be expected to evolve towards incremental deployment of automated transport systems and vehicles. Data-connected cooperative and autonomous vehicles represent a significant and inevitable innovation not only for the automotive and telecommunications industry but will significantly affect the future functioning of the entire transport and logistics system," said Václav Bernard, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic.
