Three months remain until the beginning of the 56th International Engineering Fair in Brno, but the most attractive areas in the halls are already sold out. Big interest in participating corresponds with the positive development of the economy in both the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
The structure of the International Engineering Fair will be similar to that in 2012. The dominant sector of machine tools and forming machines will be even more dominant than in the odd years, because it is the focus of the specialized biennial IMT fair (International Machine Tools Exhibition). Also the foundry industry, welding, surface treatment and plastic processing will be strongly represented this year, since some companies do not participate in MSV, but only in the specialized fairs for this industry, which are held in Brno once every two years.
The cross-sectional AUTOMATION project was declared the main theme of MSV 2014 - focusing on measurement, control, automation and control technology. The project is organized in cooperation with the Czech-Moravian Electrical and Electronic Association and adds visibility to possibilities of automation in various sectors of the fair.
In addition to machining and electrical engineering, most exhibitors applied for presentation in the group of Materials and Components for Mechanical Engineering.
The International Engineering Fair has long been one of the projects with the highest proportion of foreign exhibitors, not only among the Brno trade fairs, but throughout Central and Eastern Europe. This year, the share of foreign participants reaches 40 percent.
The 56th International Engineering Fair will take place in late September and early October on 29/9 to 3/10 2014 and five other specialized exhibitions will be taking place simultaneously: 9th International Trade Fair for Machine Tools IMT, 15th International Foundry Fair FOND-EX, 22nd International Welding Engineering Fair WELDING, 5th International Trade Fair for Surface Technology PROFINTECH and 4th International Plastics, Rubber and Composites Fair PLASTEX.
The International Engineering Fair in 2013 was attended by 1482 exhibitors from 28 countries, while the share of foreign participants reached 45.6%. 676 foreign companies came to Brno and the highest representation was from Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. The exhibition was viewed by 71 447 visitors from 55 countries.
MSV 2013 was visited by our political leaders, headed by Prime Minister Jiří Rusnok and ministers of his government . There was also a large participation of VIP guests from abroad who by their presence acknowledged the important role of the trade fair in the development of international trade.

Negative news about the economic development remained outside the gates of the Brno Exhibition Centre. The number of exhibiting companies increased by 17 percent to 1873, which is the best result since 2008. Companies came from 32 countries and the share of foreign participants exceeded 50 percent for the first time. Participation from countries with rapidly growing economies in the BRIC group was quite extraordinary.
