The International Engineering Fair in 2013 was attended by 1482 exhibitors from 28 countries, while the share of foreign participants reached 45.6%. 676 foreign companies came to Brno and the highest representation was from Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. The exhibition was viewed by 71 447 visitors from 55 countries. 6968 registered visitors came from abroad, i.e. 9.8% of the total. Most foreign experts arrived from Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Russia and Hungary. 384 journalists from eight countries accredited at the trade fair.

The success of last year's MSV is confirmed by an extensive survey among exhibitors and visitors of the trade fair, realized by Ipsos agency – since 2009 the largest company focusing on market research in the Czech Republic. Exhibitors spontaneously appreciated particularly the opportunity to establish new contacts and acquire new customers. Contacts with potential domestic and foreign customers were made by 96% of companies, 30% of the companies even concluded or started negotiating an export contract on site.

The basis of this significant business value traditionally lies in a good quality visitor structure which was highly appreciated by most last year's exhibitors. MSV 2013 also attracted 15% of new visitors – potential customers. The survey also confirmed that the vast majority of visitors to the fair consisted of professionals working in certain industries, two-fifths of them have decision-making or co-decision powers for the purchase of goods and services and 36% of them have an advisory vote in the decision-making process.

Participation in the International Engineering Fair is the second most used marketing tool to reach customers for companies after their website. After taking into account benefits and costs, the fair is rated as the third most effective marketing tool after websites and personal sale. Although a large proportion of respondents participate in trade fairs and other events elsewhere, more than half of the participants (49% of visitors and 55% of exhibitors) consider MSV the most important one.

The results of last year's survey are also good promise for this year. Interest in participating in MSV 2014 has been tentatively confirmed by 83% of visitors and 75% of the exhibitors. A favourable outlook of the exhibition is also demonstrated by the respondents’ optimism about the development of their business - the future growth of their company was expected by 71% of visitors and 87% of the exhibitors at MSV 2013.
